One of my favorite verses comes from Isaiah 43:19: “Behold, I will do a new thing; now it shall spring forth; shall ye not know it? I will even make a way in the wilderness, and rivers in the desert.”
Why? It shows us that God is not stagnant, stale, routine, complacent or stuck in a rut. No, instead he is active, fresh, exciting and enthusiastic. He wants the same for us individually and as a church. If we are honest with ourselves, we can quickly become creatures of habit and ritual.
It becomes a comfort zone for us that we don’t want to get out of. God wants to do a new thing in your life. This verse asks us “do ye not know it?” The Amplified translation asks, “Will you not be aware of it?” The new thing can be right in front of us but our blinders of comfort, apathy, tradition and legalism, to name a few, can keep us from seeing it. We need to ask God to remove whatever is blinding us from His new work from our eyes.
Beloved, we do not always see everything that comes our way, but God does. I believe that positive things can come out of difficult seasons and hard challenges because God gives us an opportunity for a new season. We just must delete the phrase “we haven’t ever done it that way” from our vocabulary and watch God bless us with something new!
So, what is the new thing that God wants to do in your life? Have you asked Him? If not, take the time to ask Him to remove the blinders that keep us from seeing where he is working and what new thing He wants to do in our lives for our good and for His glory!
